What I’m reading
- Drone WMDs Don’t Need Any New Technology was, uh, quite concerning. Probably more worried about threats like this than a rogue AI taking out power infrastructure
- We Must Pace the Frontier, An Alien Mind, other related reading. Things continue to move quickly. I think that if current model training progress stopped right now, capabilities and real world impact would continue to grow and grow.
What I’m playing
The Blood of Dawnwalker is awesome. It’s been a while since I played a game in this genre, and this one has me hooked. I think it’s a combination of:
- The unique setting and lore (werewolf-infused vampires, rad)
- The time system and day/night cycle keeps things moving
- The combat feels great
I think they could have leaned even harder into the time mechanics, it’s still too forgiving. It’s perfect for this kind of game, though, adding some structure and propulsion to what could be an open world laundry-list of activities.
