What I’m reading
Perhaps the Stars, book four of Terra Ignota. Very excited to see how the series ends.
What I’m playing
I finished The Blood of Dawnwalker. First game like this in some time that I’ve rolled credits on, high praise! The good:
- Combat feels great, witchcraft is fun, vampire/sword switching is good.
- Story and writing were good, both side missions and the main plot. Seemed like lots of paths to the finish and different endings.
- Truly felt like an open world, many competing priorities and often different ways to complete tasks.
The bad:
- The “planeshifting” (walking on walls) just feels awful. Buggy, hard to move around, feels punishing.
- The time pressure to finish the game was no pressure at all.
- Enemies got a bit scaled/spongy, didn’t feel quite as powerful as I would’ve liked at the end game.
What I’m up to
On baby watch, trying to remember what it’ll be like to have a newborn. Ready enough, not ready for the lack of sleep.
