Way-too-late post about our trip to Keuka lake this summer. This time was just Rory and I as Kaitlin was not able to travel - she was missed by all but Rory had a wonderful time.
Few things bring me as much joy as seeing Rory discover his love of Keuka lake and time spent with family there. He is much more capable now and took full advantage of his motor skills and attentive grandparents to make the most of our ten day visit.
We started off with a too-short overlap with my cousins from Florida, Rory got to meet his cousin Brooks for the first time. They had a blast and both pushed each other to try new things, such fun!
If I had to name a theme for the visit… I think it’d be “boats”. Rory rode on every boat that we had, and constantly requested more boat time. Canoe, Kayak, sailing, motorboat, you name it, he wanted to ride it. We were happy to oblige!
Big milestone: We got him behind the boat on the tube! Nervous but had fun. Will be tubing on his own in no time.
Of course he had to sample the golf clubs lying around - apples were good fodder.
In between all of the play we put him to work, too. Just happy to be involved!
Nothing better than a big splash throwing a rock. Still working on skipping, he’s a big fan of anyone who can find and throw the biggest rock around.
He even took part in the quieter activities, finding a quiet spot to look through some books.
All in all a wonderful visit. The next time we’re here he’ll be showing everything to his baby brother!
