What I’m reading
I signed up for Interface Craft in January when it launched on faith, and mostly forgot about it until recently when I’ve had to put on a designer hat at work. It’s absolutely worth the money so far, and is helping a design neanderthal like me think a bit differently. Fun to get out of my comfort zone!
What I’m playing
Finding some time to game pre-baby, two things have my attention:
- Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave has me hooked. I kind of bounced off of three houses, I just don’t care that much about the relationships between characters vs. the tactics and story. Fortune’s Weave leans much more heavily on a cool multi-POV story and iterated on the tactics system. So much fluff in the game, though, I need to turn off my optimizing brain and just move faster - start ignoring character meals and fully optimizing training if I want to play this game in less than 100 hours.
- Star Wars: Galactic Racer - holy cow, the rogue-lite formula fits so well for a racing game. I can’t believe no one has tried this before? The racing feels awesome, there is a lot of build variety and the progression is challenging.
