What I’m reading
Finished Too Like the Lightning. Wow! Lots of feelings on this, it is odd and challenging but some of the best science fiction / political intrigue I’ve read in a long time. Eagerly onto book two.
What I’m listening to
In concert with reading her book, I remembered that Ada Palmer did two interviews with Dwarkesh this year: Why Leonardo was a saboteur, Gutenberg went broke, and Florence was weird and Machiavelli is the most misunderstood thinker of all time. These were very good, I learned a lot about the period. Her non-fiction book about the Renaissance is high up on my reading list now and the interviews helped illuminate some themes and thinking in her fiction.
